Denali Is Here

The next America The Beautiful Quarter has been minted and it is composed of mountains with what appears to be a ram or mountain goat in front. Naturally, after visiting Alaska no coin can hope to capture the scenic wonders of the country ,but it is a nice tribute to the countries  largest national park just the same.
I urge all my reader"s to make an effort to see these parks in their natural state and learn just why these parks are being celebrated on our coinage.

Benjamin Harrison Has Arrived

The Benjamin Harrison Presidential coin is now minted and to be honest I do not know much about him. Because I just came back from a long journey to visit a coin show I am too  tired to see what he is famous for. As of right now, let us just say that Cleveland served before and after him.
The presidential series is like watching paint dry and will probably remain so for a long time.
The  only solace is, I am purchasing coins with a very low mintage at a small premium above face.

Hawai'i Volcanes Quarter Dollars Available

The 2012 Hawai'i Vocanoes National Park quarter dollar represents the fourteenth coin issued in the America the Beautiful  Quarters Program, started in 2010.
Personally,I think the coin is much to small to show a volcano erupting and the program will never erupt with the general population. However, the small mintage still keeps me buying the coins with a premium attached.

IS SILVER THE NEW GOLD

A while back I mentioned that silver should return to an all time high and if you have seen the price lately my observation is turning out more and more correct.
I recently went to a coin show and silver was flying off the dealer's tables It was amazing to see a small show become a frenzy for those dealers selling silver.
For those readers following this blog I suggest you either buy some ounces as a hedge against what is happening with the American fiat money.
YOU WILL NOT BE SORRY.

THE DEATH OF THE COIN INDUSTRY

Every day it seems coins are becoming more and more obsolete. The use of credit and debit, the elimination of large quantities of circulating coins and the allowance of our country not to crack down on counterfeit coins has made the collecting of coins an obsolete hobby.
It seems that our entire economy is based on credit and children no longer ask for an allowance in money but a deposit on their debit cards.
It is unfortunate to see this happening and as we are approaching a cashless society a little bit more of the life we grew up with is disappearing.

CLEVELAND ONE IS OUT

The first term of  the Grover Cleveland presidential dollars is out and soon the man's second term will follow
His portrait will appear the other way in the second series and if this bores you as much as myself I do not blame you. However, the series will soon get better and you will be glad at some point you obtained some.
I AM ONLY THE MESSENGER.

ACADIA IS OUT

The next America The Beautiful Quarter is being released with the shores of
Maine . It features a lighthouse from Acadia National Park and it is a great representation.
The mint is offering them at the present or soon you can purchase them from coin shows.
Please remember due to budget cutting the presentations of the coins  are no longer held at the sites.
It is unfortunate so many coins are being released now with no fanfare and the public's interest in the series is down to zero.
I for one am keeping up with the series and will continue to purchase a series of coins that will have a low mintage and low level of interest. I always have swum upstream and can only hope these coins will be a fruitful investment down the road.
It is my readers call if they follow my lead.

AN UPDATE ON PRESIDENTIAL DOLLARS

Perhaps the government is serious about saving money because the new presidential dollars for the year are out with a premium on their backs. The first two coins are now released and come with a heavy premium.
Grover Cleveland is now out in rolls from the mint or can be purchased at some coin stores.
With the releases now at very low mintages and with no fanfare they are only being collected by coin enthusiasts.
This may be an avenue down the road to make some money because if people want the entire series at some point it will be quite expensive to obtain all the coins.
As mentioned in previous posts the modern presidents we have grown up with are still going to be released and the old rules of waiting for someone to be dead for a number of years might be abolished.
These coins could be an ugly duckling series and I advise my readers to obtain a couple of rolls as a long term investment.

A TIP FOR MY READERS

Silver is down to about $26.00 an ounce.Without going into to much detail I am urging my reader's to buy as much as you can afford at the present prices. Whether you buy bars or coins it makes no difference.
In my opinion you will not be sorry.

PRICE INCREASE FOR PRESIDENTIAL DOLLARS

The presidential dollars are available with a new twist. They can only be purchased in rolls from the mint or at coin shows and are available with a nice premium. For those readers who are collecting them do not go to your bank any longer.
The government is trying to recoup the billions it lost on the former presidents and will no longer just give them away.

SAY HELLO TO CHACO

A new America The Beautiful Quarter is out and is very impressive. It features the Chaco National Park in New Mexico. The quarter features two kivas which are ancient gathering places for the inhabitants of the area and a canyon wall.
For those readers who have ever entered one you will never forget the experience. They were used as meeting rooms for the inhabitants and, in my opinion, are similar to hot tubs found in modern times.

New Metals Are On Their Way

By the end of this year new metals should be announced for the penny and nickel due to the cost of the mints expenses in making them.
Keep an eye on this blog for further information.

Say Hello To El-Yunque

The next America The Beautiful quarter in the series is from the country of Puerto Rico.It is of their national park called El Yunque.
The coin is quite impressive with an unknown bird perched in a tree and adds to the number of animals in the state and series features .
It is unfortunate that only numismatists are enjoying this series due to the non interest of the regular population. Perhaps at some point the series will catch on and those who are purchasing rolls of the quarters will get rewarded highly.
Anyway ,I am enjoying learning about the many parks and territories being featured and will continue to follow the series.

THE END OF THE SERIES

The end of presidential coins has finally arrived. Due to the great abundance in the government vaults they will no longer be circulated to banks to be given as face value.
However, the government will continue them for collectors and a premium will be added to the rolls. If any of my customers still want to add to their collections just e mail me and I will try to help you find them or sell them to you when they become available.
This is probably just the beginning of changes coming to the coin industry due to the fact our government is broke and is trying to save a few dollars. The penny and nickel will probably be on the chopping block next as reported in earlier blogs.
Furthermore,I just read in a blog that all money will be obsolete shortly due to people paying everything with their smart phones.
Stay tuned for more information.
