I TOUCHED THE CIVIL WAR

Today while going through a bag of coins I found a FLYING EAGLE coin from 1858.Although heavily worn it struck me it not only lived through the Civil War but every event since that time.
Imagine the stories behind its years and it is now living in my home for a few years before it will be off for new adventures.
Just imagine what an ancient coin has been through.

THE END OF THE PRESIDENTIAL DOLLARS

The presidential dollar coin program is coming to an end for circulating coins. However, they will still be minted for collectors and this might be a blessing in disguise for the entire series because they will now be minted just for the people who want them.
They will probably be harder to find but when the entire series is completed will still make a very presentable book.
I urge the readers of this blog to continue forward and you will have an awesome collection when the series is completed.

President Garfield Awaits You

The last presidential quarter is out for the year and it happens to be James Garfield.
The government should limit the amount they mint because they are not circulating very well and only hobbyists seem to give a damn.

Where the hell is Chickasaw?

Irregardless of where Chickasaw is located the quarters are now out .
However ,if you must know it is in Oklahoma and sounds like a great place to visit with natural springs.

A NEW PRESIDENTIAL COIN

The Haye's presidential dollar has just arrived.as usual I suggest a roll or two for your collection.
There is talk of stopping the series permanently because of a giant backlog of these coins the government must store.
In my opinion they will probably keep the series going for collectors but cut the mintage to a very low level. It will be interesting to see if this becomes the uncompleted series.
However, this is no reason to stop. There are a great many coins in the series already and they will remain collectible.

CAN COPPER BE THE NEW GOLD

Copper and gold are comparable in many ways and it is for this reason I believe copper will be highly sought after in the next few years.
I am going to give my readers the top five reasons for my opinion and we will go from there;
1.copper is used in jewelry
2.copper has many industrial uses
3.copper is used as a means of exchange in the monetary system
4.as with all metals there is a finite amount in our world
5.copper is now being used to make rounds and bricks like gold
For many years silver was a few dollars an ounce and has now reached forty dollars an ounce.
In my opinion when silver and gold become over priced people will turn to copper as a way to combat fiat money.
MARK MY WORDS!

Welcome Olympia As The New America The Beautiful Quarter

The Olympia National Park Quarter is now available from the mint or private coin stores. It features the mountain with an elk in front of it and at first glance reminded me of the Colorado State Quarter.

Beware Of North Korea

Recently i I was at an antique show in Illinois and was amazed when a dealer showed me some coins from North Korea. Like China they to are reproducing our currency and not stating they are copies.
I saw the coins and was very impressed by the workmanship and if this dealer was dishonest could have easily passed them off as genuine.
Again be aware of nongraded coins because you stand a great chance of being ripped off.

The New Silver

Buyers beware. Copper is being melted just like gold and silver. It will be the new way of investing for this century due to the price and beauty of copper bullion.
Keep an eye out for it at coin shows and coin stores as well.

A New Book Recommendation

I have been fortunate to become friends with the author of the book,The Toilet Paper Entrepreneur. His name is Mike Michalowicz and I recommend his book to all new entrepreneurs.
Although, the book is not really for experienced entrepreneur's it is enjoyable reading and swims upstream like myself.
When he wrote that business plans can slow an entrepreneur down and to stick with your gut instincts he expressed what I have been saying for years in business meetings.
The book also gives the reader a review of their inner core feelings and I would give the book as a gift to anyone going into business for themselves.
You can find the book on Amazon.Com. and do not forget to check out his website which is in the book as well.

The New Gold

If you have not heard by now silver is at an all time high. This is spelling out to be one of the greatest chances in history to make some big money and it does not necessarily involve coins.
My suggestion is go through your house and see if you have some old jewelry or silverware or perhaps some old wedding gifts that contain a high silver content and take them to your local coin store to see if they can be purchased by them.
At nearly thirty five dollars an ounce it could be an ideal way to cash in on this spike of metal prices.

A Coin Bucket List

I do not know if I ever shared on this blog one of my bucket wishes is to photograph as many state quarter scenes in person as possible and create a photo album of them. Already ,I have about ten or so of them and while traveling I have been obsessed with capturing some of them.
The first one ,which comes to mind, was Chimney Rock in Nebraska. We traveled a half day in some obscure part of Nebraska to see it and out of nowhere it appeared on the horizon. It was just amazing and well worth the trip.
Another great landmark was in Utah when we got to see the east and west trains meeting up . They have replicas of them and actually create history by running them as though they were meeting for the first time.
Some landmarks like The Old Man On The Mountain in New Hampshire are already gone and will live on forever on their state quarter.
I will keep you abreast of other states I have visited in future posts and only hope the readers of this blog can share some of their favorite stories as well.

What To Watch For

It is my suggestion that the readers of this blog start putting aside the bicentennial quarters when they see them in circulation or perhaps purchase a couple of rolls when they see them at flea markets or coin shows.
A large web based coin company has started selling them recently and I believe sold them out.
It is already thirty five years since they were released and are a tribute to the history of the United States.

A New Presidential Dollar Is Relesed For 2011

Another issue for 2011 is the Andrew Johnson presidential dollar coin which was just released.
You can check at your bank or call the mint , at 1800 the mint to obtain a roll or two.
These coins will be necessary in the future to complete the series and because of their anticipated low mintage after Lincoln could be sought after by future collectors.

A New America The Beautiful Quarter Is Released

The Gettysburg America The Beautiful quarter is the first issue of the new program for 2011.It has been released and you can expect another low mintage.
You can purchase them from the U. S. mint or from some coin dealers.
As always , I am a big advocate to obtain a few rolls because of their historical significance and their collectability down the road.

A Litmus Test For Entrepreneurs

While at the conference for entrepreneurs I was talking to a very successful woman from Indiana and she was telling me about her success with her product and how it started taking off in stores. Needless to say I was very impressed with her accomplishments and wished her well. However,as is the case of our group ,she mentioned how her mother still reads the classified section for her and brings her job information to check out.

Some people just don't understand that if you are an entrepreneur the last thing in this world is to work for someone and give them our expertise.

Entrepreneurs Are Like Peas In The Pod

I just came back from Grand Haven , Michigan where I attended an open house for the author of Mommy Millionaire ,Kim Lavine who is starting a coaching business for aspiring new startups.
To make a long story short it was attended by people like myself who are trying to make it in the business world and it was something to behold.
The people were all interested in hearing our different stories and it was amazing for people who never met each other before how we all shared a common bond and the same problems and experiences.
My suggestion to all people trying something new in the business world is to go out and meet people who are at times a little strange in the real world and just talk to them about how you are trying to make it. You will find as i did you are not alone.
Sometimes that can make all the difference in the world.

Reminicents is for sale!

I am looking for an entrepreneur who can either invest or take Reminicents to the next level.
This is no joke.
If anyone is out there is looking to purchase the greatest collection of one cent coins in the country, the domains of the company, the secrets of our polishing techniques and the thousands of jewelry findings I need them to contact me.
I have seen to many of my friends delay selling their companies because they are tied to a business.
Naturally, I would stick around if asked to help this person or corporation if needed.
This is a golden opportunity for someone to have a company that offers truly unique items and the opportunity to expand on a national level.
P.S. Bring lots of cash.

Big Changes For The Penny May Be Coming

I have just read an article that Canada may devalue all their one cent coins.
Can the U.S. be far behind.
It is unfortunate but this is the path of more and more countries.
It will be a sad day in our country when people turn in copper for Fiat money. The government will sell all of this copper to China and make a few billion dollars to finance more of their great wars.
Perhaps they will even spend more on our wonderful health care or help bail out some states who spent money they never had.
It is unfortunate and grotesque. However ,it is the tide of the future .

Money Has Become Meaningless

Well it finally happened when we were in Las Vegas. We would have gone hungry at the airport while at a Baja Fresh if we did not have a credit card because they refused cash.
I realize this blog is about rare coins but what is this country coming to when you can not even use Fica money to pay for a damn taco?
Perhaps in the near future we will have computer chips embedded in our fingers at birth and cash will no longer be accepted as a form of payment. Perhaps this is an omen of things to come and
it is a sad day for the American consumer when we have to pay for food a month later when its already floating in some sewage tank.
Perhaps if we tear up our cards and only offer cash it may make a resurgence.
