a tribute to a long forgotten uncle

back in the fifties before most people were even born i was fortunate to have an uncle nate who took the time to teach me the art of coin collecting. i remember him searching the change from his drug store and even finding a 1909 vdb coin on occasion and how proud he was on his finds.
in those days wheaties were the main one cent coin and since that time we have gone on to the memorial cent and now the new four one cent coins depicting Lincoln's life from boyhood to the presidency.
anyway,as with most people , i went on my way to school and work for about fifty years and kept the knowledge of coin collecting in the back of my mind .
when i retired , i went back to those days and started right back where i left off fifty years ago with my uncle and believe it or not had quite a bit of knowledge to start right back up again.
hopefully, the readers of this blog will take this information and help your children or any children and give them the opportunity to learn this great hobby .
currently, i now go to schools and offer many people the opportunity to learn about this hobby
because of the wonderful opportunity i was given as a child.
my uncle nate probably never even realized just what he instilled in his nephew when he took the time to teach me the value of this hobby.hopefully, i can pass on his wisdom to pay back the favor.
